Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos Memorial fund

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos Memorial Fund.

Dr. Karla Diaz Davalos died on July 27, 2013 at the age of 31, after a hard-fought battle with Burkitt's lymphoma.

She was due to start her third and final year of fellowship in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division of the Department of Medicine at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio.  She became very ill during the beginning of her second year of fellowship, but was still able to complete her pulmonary portion.

During her first year of fellowship, she and her husband, Tony, were blessed with the news of her pregnancy.  Being a devoted physician, Dr. Davalos continued to work tirelessly throughout her pregnancy and unknown illness at the time, which was later diagnosed as lymphoma.

Dr. Davalos amazed all people who had the great fortune of working with her.  She enjoyed life to the fullest and made many friends along the way and traveled around the world with her family and friends.

She will be missed dearly by all who had the good fortune of knowing her. To make a gift in her memory, please complete and submit the form below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Philip Garza, Senior Director of Development, at (210) 567-2598.
