On June 28, 2012, we lost one of our most respected and beloved physicians, Larry E. Becker, MD, Clinical Professor. Because of his extensive contributions at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, a special memorial fund was initiated. The Dr. Larry E. Becker Memorial Fund will be used exclusively for the benefit of dermatology residents in UT Health San Antonio’s Dermatology Program. 

Dr. Eric W. Kraus, Dermatology Professor and Program Director, started this special memorial fund to recognize and honor Dr. Becker’s dedication to educating future generations of Dermatologists. 

Dr. Becker served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring as a Colonel in 1996. Through the years, he had numerous assignments at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston. Dr. Becker was involved in health care studies and clinical investigation during his Army career. 

Upon retiring from the military, Dr. Becker opened a dermatology practice in Boerne, Texas, for 10 years. Following retirement from private practice, Dr. Becker agreed to join the UT Health dermatology faculty part-time. His clinical expertise, teaching ability and leadership were so valuable that the division successfully convinced Dr. Becker to stay on. 

Join us in honoring Dr. Becker through a gift to the Dr. Larry E. Becker Memorial Fund. Dr. Becker will be forever remembered by those who knew, studied and worked with him, and his legacy will continue through residents who benefit from his special namesake fund.
