Susan Oliver Rankin

She never met a stranger, and had more friends than she could count. She always worked hard and never gave up. Though she weathered more than her share of life’s travails, Suzi never let bitterness or resentment cloud her sweet and indomitable spirit. Suzi never strayed from - and found immense comfort in – her extraordinary faith in the Lord. In Suzi’s final days and weeks she witnessed the abundance of plentiful rains and green grass as far as the eye could see. On the day she passed, cool winds and showers blessed us all once again, and the Good Lord carried her home.

Susan is survived by her husband, Joseph Moody Rankin, Jr.; sons James Oliver and his wife Katy, Wes Oliver and his partner Devi Norton, Will Oliver and his wife Natalie; grandchildren Will, Warren, Piper, and Grant; sister Louella Carr and her children Susan, Sid, and Scott, and their spouses and children; J.M.’s children Tray, Tracey, and Trent, and their spouses and children.

She is also survived by a beloved community of family, friends, and neighbors that reflects the expansiveness of her love and the generosity of her spirit.

The family offers special thanks to Dr. Michael McFarland, Patricia Delarosa Leon, and Vanessa Delarosa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, or by calling Sonia Vasquez at (210) 567-0028.
