Thank you for your interest in supporting the Dr. Samuel J. Friedberg Memorial Fund.
In 1968, Dr. Friedberg and his family moved to San Antonio, where he was one of the founding faculty members of the University of Texas Health Science Center, until he retired in 1992. He also headed the UT Health Science Center’s Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism from 1968 – 1975. He authored or co-authored more than 40 papers, many concerning glycerol ethers and lipids, and some of his work is still referenced in important biochemistry texts. In 1992 Dr. Friedberg began a second career as an artist, working primarily in water colors. His excellent drawing skills and feel for gesture gave his paintings great warmth.
A video history interview made in 2011 with Dr. Samuel J. Friedberg, member of the Department of Physiology and Internal Medicine and founding faculty member of UT Health Science Center San Antonio can be viewed on this link: http://library.uthscsa.edu/2011/09/founding-faculty-interviews/
