Robert “Bob” Byron Price, M.B.A., B.B.A., passed away at the age of 86 on Thursday, June 28, 2018, with his family at his side. He was born on January 3, 1932, in Colorado City, Texas, to wonderful parents, Oscar and Lela Price.
He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and he earned his B.B.A. in 1953 and M.B.A. in 1961, both from Texas Tech University.
Bob was a member of Rotary International (1963-2004); First Presbyterian Church, Ordained Deacon and Ordained Elder; City of Olmos Park, City Council Member (1997-2007); Texas Research Park Foundation, Board of Directors (2000-2018); Morningside Ministries, Board of Directors (2005-2011); San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic, Board of Directors (2013-2018); and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (now known as UT Health San Antonio), Development Board Member (2013-2018).
Memberships in professional associations and accomplishments include: National Association of College and University Business Officers (1968-2003), Texas Association of College and University Business Officers (1968-2003), Council on Governmental Relations Chairman (1996-1998, 1999-2000), Association of Academic Health Centers - Fiscal Officers Chairman (1978-1980), and Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Business Affairs (1972-2003).
Bob worked in higher education for more than 47 years including positions as Vice President, Emeritus, UT Health San Antonio (January 2004-2018); Executive Vice President for Administration and Business Affairs, UT Health San Antonio (December 1972-September 2003); Vice President for Business Affairs, The University of Texas at Arlington (November 1968-November 1972); and various business officer positions at Texas Tech University (August 1956-October 1968).
Bob married the love of his life, Rebecca Ann Coles, and cherished a wonderful marriage of 66 years. Throughout his life, Bob understood his role and showed a strong faith and belief in placing his family first. He loved music, bird hunting and had a passion for fly fishing. He is preceded in death by his son, David Price, and is survived by his wife, Becca; their children, Doug Price and Mary Alice McKean and husband, Randy; and grandchildren, Callie Lee McKean and Mackenzie Ann McKean.
The David C. Price Memorial Scholarship is an endowment that supports dental students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance at the completion of their sophomore year.
