In appreciation of his educational experience at UT Health San Antonio, Peter Ramirez, MD, established the Medical Laboratory Sciences Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2003. Through his generosity, over 30 students have been awarded with significant financial support.
The MLS Scholarship is awarded to deserving students with demonstrated financial need through a competitive application process.
"I am immensely honored to have been selected as one of the recipients for the MLS Scholarship. I greatly appreciate the support this scholarship provides for us students; it will alleviate some of the financial load and allow me to focus more on the opportunities the program has to offer. This scholarship has helped me find even more inspiration and motivation to help and serve others in South Texas." - Miguel A. Lopez, Class of 2022
Dr. Ramirez earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1981. He graduated Summa cum Laude, and was a member of the first class of an integrated medical technology program by UTSA and UT Health San Antonio, now known as medical laboratory sciences.
