Dr. Beth Goins was a faculty member in the Department of Radiology at UT Health San Antonio for 27 years. Hired as an Assistant Professor in 1991, she advanced to Associate Professor (2001) and full Professor (2008) before her untimely death from cervical cancer in December 2018. UT Health Radiology was Beth’s lifelong academic home.
Beth was an accomplished scientist who developed several diagnostic and therapeutic methods for targeted cancer treatment using liposome encapsulation. She was a pioneer in biological nanotechnology; she was one of the very first scientists to investigate the use of nanotechnology in biology and to use nanoparticles for delivering drugs.
Yet first and foremost, Beth Goins was a teacher. The Beth A. Goins, Ph.D. Radiological Sciences Graduate Program Endowed Scholarship will fund the education of one outstanding RSGP doctoral student per year, in perpetuity, to honor Beth’s life-long commitment to excellence in graduate education.
Please join us today in honoring Dr. Beth Goins through a gift to a memorial fund in her name, the Beth A. Goins, Ph.D. Radiological Sciences Graduate Program Endowed Scholarship. We thank you in advance for your gift or pledge to help this fund grow and keep her memory close to our hearts.
