The Department of Orthopaedics at UT Health San Antonio was established in 1966 as a Division of the Department of Surgery. The Department continues to grow and at present has more than 25 full-time faculty, with expertise in almost every sub-specialty in Orthopaedics. It is routinely ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 50 Orthopaedic Programs in the United States.
The emphasis on patient care has made the primary teaching facility, University Hospital, one of the top-rated hospitals for orthopaedic service in the country. The residency program has a strong trauma component and provides residents the opportunity to study with faculty recognized in a variety of specialties such as the shoulder, spine, and hand as well as pediatric and sports orthopaedics and joint replacement. These talented faculty are supported by a strong research division, with expertise in both applied and basic research.
If you have any questions, please contact Collette Wixom, Executive Director of Development, by email or by phone at (210) 567-2575.
