Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long

This January, Joe Long turns 94 years old. Please help us wish Mr. Long a happy and prosperous birthday by making a gift to support medical students.

This scholarship offers everyone an opportunity to honor the Long’s legacy by “paying it forward” the way they have done for deserving UT Health San Antonio students throughout the years. The Longs’ legacy lives on in more than 307 physicians, nurses, health professionals and MD/PhD students whose education at UT Health San Antonio was funded by scholarships from the Longs.

The couple, who were married for 63 years, changed the future of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine and UT Health San Antonio. Their philanthropy, which exceeds $70 million to UT Health, includes funding scholarships to first-generation college graduates who can graduate free of debt and return to their South Texas hometowns, where health care is desperately needed.
