Dr. Gregory Aune and his family

Greg Aune, M.D., Ph.D., principal investigator at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute is a former high school athlete, childhood cancer survivor, pediatric oncologist, husband to a neonatologist and father of two young sets of twins.

As a teenager, he beat Hodgkin Lymphoma, which led him to pursue a career in pediatric oncology, and to an interest in the health problems related to cancer survivorship.

In 2006 Steve and Terri Edlund received news that could be considered every parent's worst nightmare. Doctors had diagnosed their daughter, Stephanie, who was just 4 at the time, with leukemia.
