Peter Richard Stewart was born the morning of June 15, 2006. At sunset on October 26, 2015, at nine years of age, Peter passed away at his home in the warm embrace of his family.
Peter was a sweet and loving boy who was both courageous and tenacious in his cancer battle. When asked what he most wanted in his life, it was to be together with his extended family. He never complained during his treatment even through many hours of surgery, radiation treatment and chemotherapy. Peter’s family called him their “rock”, and he gave them “meaning” throughout the difficult time of his illness. Peter brought his family supreme joy, and he will be remembered forever for his sense of humor and his shy and unassuming, warm smile. He is forever loved and remembered by his parents, April and Pete, and by his beloved sister, Anna. He would have wanted his life to illuminate the world.
Gifts to the Peter Richard Stewart Endowment for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research will benefit pediatric brain cancer research at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute at UT Health San Antonio. For generations to come, this permanent Endowment will illuminate the path of scientists who are advancing research in pediatric brain cancers and offer hope to families who face the difficult diagnosis of brain cancer for their beloved child.
