Charles A. Rockwood, Jr., M.D. Chair in Orthopaedics

The Charles A. Rockwood, Jr., M.D. Chair in Orthopaedics was initially established as the Shoulder Research and Education Endowment Fund in 1991, renamed in honor of Dr. Rockwood in 1995, and elevated to a Chair in 2003. The endowment was created to support education and research in disorders of the shoulder and to honor Dr. Rockwood's longstanding service to UT Health San Antonio and his many contributions to the field of orthopaedic surgery. The endowment benefits the Department of Orthopaedics, which was founded by Dr. Rockwood in 1966 as a Division of General Surgery, by supporting the academic work of the Chair holder.
