Phil and Karen Hunke Special Care Clinic

UT Dentistry will provide access to dental care for patients with cognitive and physical disabilities in a beautiful new clinic at the Center for Oral Health Care & Research. The clinic is designed especially for those whose disabilities may prevent them from being treated in a conventional dental setting.

Expected to open in early 2024, this specialty practice will have seven treatment rooms and five IV sedation suites to accommodate the needs of adults and children.

This unique clinic is the first of its kind in an academic environment in South Texas. While providing excellent oral health care to patients, the practice will offer interdisciplinary educational opportunities for students and residents.

Area dentists can refer disabled patients and their families and caregivers to receive the special care and attention that can be difficult to find.

Opportunities are available to support the Phil and Karen Hunke Special Care Clinic, including gifts of equipment, materials and financial support.

If you have questions or need assistance, please email Janice Da Silva, Senior Director of Development in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
