Dr. Donald H. Masters died on September 10, 2016 as a result of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Masters will be remembered as a Periodontist in San Antonio for almost 50 years and as a pioneer in Implant Dentistry before his retirement in 1998.
He began dental school at Loyola University, New Orleans in 1945 and finished his last three years at UT Dental School in Houston. After 2 ½ years in general practice he entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War, serving in a specialty internship in Periodontics. Upon his release from service he started his practice in San Antonio in 1952.
In his role as a recognized authority in Implant Dentistry, Dr. Masters started a clinical training program for qualifying dentists to learn the fundamentals. Thousands of people have benefited from his pursuit to be on the “cutting-edge” of his profession.
