Make a gift to the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases
Every 67 seconds someone develops Alzheimer’s disease. It is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States, affecting one out of every nine persons over age 65. Currently, there is no treatment to prevent, cure, or even significantly slow the disease process. Our country is facing a public health crisis.
As the flagship academic health science center for South Texas, UT Health San Antonio is committed to meeting this challenge. The Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, opening in 2017, will provide a compassionate and comprehensive network of clinical care for patients and their families, grounded in the innovative medical research and proven best practices for which UT Health San Antonio is renowned. The Biggs Institute will facilitate basic and translational research efforts, including access to leading-edge clinical trials, as we search for new, much needed therapies to improve patient care today and offer hope to patients and families.
