Margot Bayer Zuelzer, Ph.D., was born in Germany. While there, she attended Tubingen University and met her husband, Wilhelm Zuelzer, M.D., who was an Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Army. After being stationed in Japan, Colorado, Germany, and Virginia they moved to San Antonio, Texas.
Dr. Zuelzer received her Masters at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and her Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. She completed her residency in Psychology at UT Health San Antonio, after which she joined the faculty and practiced at Community Guidance Center. While there, she served as Director of Child Abuse and Neglect Services after being Co-Director of Child and Adolescent Abuse and Neglect Services.
Dr. Zuelzer was also the coordinator for the NIMH Project: Innovative Services for Abused and Neglected Adolescents. She served as Director of Psychology Services and Chief Psychologist at Laurel Ridge Psychiatric Hospital for 30 years, and was the primary site supervisor for Psychology Residents and Fellows.
In addition, Dr. Zuelzer was Director of Psychology Services for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Brook Army Medical Center. She taught and held consultations with her trainees. For more than 35 years, she was engaged in Private Practice in Clinical Psychology. Her focus was psycho diagnostics, especially the Rorschach/Projective-Personality Assessment psychotherapy and consultation. Dr. Zuelzer was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Health San Antonio.
