Emerson “Buddy” Banack, Jr. Memorial Fund

Buddy was a well-respected community leader, dedicated family man, and an accomplished lawyer whose career and service to the San Antonio community were unparalleled. His accolades included a Texas Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award, membership in the American College of Trial Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America honors, and most recently, the 2019 Joe Frazier Brown, Sr. Award of Excellence. 

Buddy’s beloved wife of 59 years, Rose Marie has established the Emerson “Buddy” Banack, Jr. Memorial Fund at UT Health San Antonio. Rose Marie said, “we want this fund to benefit the many compassionate and talented physicians at UT Health who have cared for Buddy and me over the years. We are deeply grateful to all of them.” 

We are honored that Buddy served on our Board of Governors at the Mays Cancer Center, home to UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center. Rose Marie is also a current member of the Board and a past president of the SA Cancer Council.
