With deep sadness, the School of Dentistry shares the news of the passing of former Dean William “Bill” W. Dodge, DDS, after succumbing to an illness over Memorial Day weekend 2022.

Dr. Dodge was a highly accomplished educator, clinician, and leader over his 40-year career at UT Health San Antonio and will be greatly missed. His accomplishments are many, including establishing the Center for Oral Health Care and Research in 2015. Our sincerest condolences to his wife, Jill, and their family.

The Dean William W. Dodge, DDS Endowment for Excellence in Dentistry was established in 2016 by a grateful alumnus to honor Dr. Dodge and his tremendous contributions to the School of Dentistry. Arriving on campus as a young professor in 1978, he served as a mentor and leader for many training to be dentists. First as a Professor and then later as the Associate Dean for Patient Care, the Vice Dean for the School of Dentistry, and serving for his last five years as Dean of the School of Dentistry. The endowment benefits the School of Dentistry’s greatest needs at the discretion of the Dean.
