Dr. James E. Pridgen, who was 95 at the time of his passing, saw and accomplished a great deal over the span of his 62-year surgical career.
In 2011, he chose to share the fruits of a rewarding vocation in medicine and teaching with future generations by establishing the James E. Pridgen, MD Endowed Presidential Scholarship in partnership with the Christ Healing Center and his family. His namesake scholarship benefits medical students interested in pursuing a career in surgery and honors the five doctors in the Pridgen family who have practiced medicine over several generations.
Dr. Pridgen and his family’s legacy of medicine and education will live on in perpetuity through the Pridgen endowed scholarship, allowing future physicians to continue to receive top-notch education and training at UT San Antonio so they too, like Dr. Pridgen, can reap the rewards of a lifelong and fulfilling career in medicine.
