“Autumn: A Pop-Up Book”
By David A. Carter
David A. Carter is the mastermind behind the “Bugs” pop-up books, which have a combined sales of more than 6 million since “How Many Bugs in a Box?” was published in 1988. His “Color” series featured two books — “600 Black Spots” and “White Noise” — that were named best illustrated children’s books of the year by the New York Times. Known as “a master paper engineer,” the creator of more than 90 pop-ups, Carter’s most recent series is a beautiful meditation on the seasons, including his latest “Autumn.” Each spread in the book has a brief verse — “Autumn days bring a chill in the air” — while pictures of fall birds, trees, animals and insects literally jump off the page at readers of all ages.
