Cellular and Structural Biology
The Department of Cellular and Structural Biology (CSB) is known for ground-breaking, multi-disciplinary science, and pioneering new solutions and approaches. CSB research themes include cancer biology, cell and organelle biology, DNA repair and mutagenesis, genetics and genomics, molecular biology of aging, neurobiology, and stem-cell biology. Research cores operate under the direction of CSB faculty. Genomics resources emphasize providing state-of-the-art genomic services to UTHSCSA investigators and the local scientific community. The Optical Imaging Facility offers access to the latest technology for the imaging of living cells, tissues and animals. The Shared Resources Mission supports the research activities of investigators at UTHSCSA and their partners through service, collaboration and education. CSB faculty are world renowned scientists and distinguished educators who are recognized for innovative teaching, including the development of software, modern curricular tools and textbooks.
